Our Mission

Our society's mission is to better prepare students to enter their perspective fields with a strong connection to what is currently taking place in the fields of fish and wildlife management.

We work to accomplish this goal in a variety of ways. By hosting a variety of speakers pertaining to management aspects, they give our members presentations on ongoing issues in fisheries and wildlife science. Speakers also advise students on opportunities available, such as internships and post-graduation work. These professional events allow students to establish connections with future employers or colleagues.

We also provide opportunities for students to develop hard skills through hands on activities such as seining, electrofishing, animal handling, and more.

Lastly, we believe no organization is complete without a sense of belonging. We frequently have social events where we travel to conferences or host game nights. Everybody is encouraged to interact with each other so that we can maintain a sense of pride for being a part of the Fish and Wildlife Society at OSU.
